William L. Sweetman, Jr. of New Castle, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 101 years old. He was born on August 20,1922 to William and Alice Sweetman.

William had been a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene. He proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Saratoga in WWII. He retired from the DuPont company in 1985. William enjoyed many things in life. He was an avid traveler who would find adventures all over the United States, especially on cruises. Fishing and hunting were activities that would bring him much joy. His love for classic cars grew as he adored his Ford 32 Model B. William was a faithful and loyal man to his family and wife, Elsie, whom he took care of until the end. His family will always remember him as an easy going, patient, quiet and loving man.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elsie, and only brother Albert. He is survived by his children A. Daniel, Joan S. Todd and Mark W. (Marcia), 5 grandchildren, 10 great children.
