William “Bill” Henry McCarthy, 65, of Chesapeake City, Maryland, passed away peacefully in his home on October 20th, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Rockville Centre, New York on November 4th, 1956 to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Pirie) McCarthy. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering. After graduating from college, Bill decided to pursue his passion of craftsmanship and marine restoration by starting his own business, McCarthy Marine Repair. Bill was well known for his masterful artistry and exceptional talent of restoring boats to their former glory.
Some of his other hobbies included playing guitar, woodworking, crabbing and fishing. Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Michelle McCarthy; daughter Kathryn Szwetkowski (Kyle); granddaughter Elizabeth Szwetkowski; brother Robert McCarthy (Maryann), and sisters Jane Barron and Betty Ann Acos (Robert).
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday October 28th, 2022 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Chesapeake City, Maryland. In Bill’s memory, we ask donations to be made to the American Cancer Society to honor his fight against esophageal cancer.
