William Edward Startt, 85, of Elkton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026.Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Bill was the only child of the late Edgar Urie Startt and Mary Jane (Naylor) Startt. He also loved tinkering with and racing lawnmowers, helping to organize local events that brought the community together. A deep love for animals defined much of his character; he raised German Shepherds for the Maryland State Police, combining his skill and patience with his respect for these remarkable working dogs.
Above all, Bill was a devoted family man with a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that could light up any room. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved, always putting family first.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith Startt, sons: Eric and Wes Startt and his son-in-law, Richard Warden, Sr.
