WILLIAM C. SHAW III
“Bill” “Bucky”
02/09/1947 – 01/13/2023
Bill passed on Friday evening, January 13, 2023 in Wilmington, DE. at the age of 75. He was surrounded by his beloved son Andrew Shaw, his first beloved wife Linda Bevan, the mother of his two sons, and his grandchildren Aliana Shaw, Andrew Shaw II, and Alexander Shaw. He was pre-deceased by his beloved partner, Jeanine Decker Bay and his parents Helen C. Frio and William C. Shaw II.
Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Bill relocated to the area in the early 70’s. He retired from US Airways (USAir) after 38 years of service in PHL where he made and kept many close friendships. He recently joined the Marshall Bus company driving a school bus (#90) for Cecil County School District, which he enjoyed so very much.
During the years, he was very active in youth sports, coaching baseball (Newport-Stanton Little League) and youth football (the Conrad Apaches) in late 70’s early 80’s. One of Bill’s favorites was coaching high school football for the North East High School Indians as an assistant coach to Ed Smith during the late 80’s and 90’s. He also coached high school basketball for a short period at North East. Bill took great pleasure in coaching special needs children, volunteering, raising money, and contributing to various charities. He loved jogging and completed a run in the Boston marathon in the late 80’s.
Following retirement from US Airways (USAir), Bill moved to Lake George NY where he spent time with his beloved partner Jeanine Decker Bay and their many dear friends. One of his favorite things to do was taking long hikes with his dogs in the mountains around Lake George.
One of his greatest accomplishments was raising his two sons and being very active in their lives. He always looked forward to family get-togethers, getting on the boat, and spending time with friends. Then his second greatest love was his grandchildren. Especially spending time with them on vacation at the Jersey Shore, watching them play sports, and going kayaking on the Elk River in Maryland.
He is survived by his sons, AJ Shaw of Newark, DE and Andrew & Eloisa Shaw of North East, MD. In addition to his sons, he is survived by his grandchildren: Aliana Shaw, Andrew Shaw II, and Alexander Shaw of North East, MD /Newark DE; his dog, Lucy, who was his faithful companion of several years.
Throughout his life, Bill has touched many lives. He was loved by many and he will be sorely missed by all.
