To Anne, Carol, Gordon and other family members and friends, Today I learned of Bill's passing. I join you in grief. I am so lucky and blessed to have gotten to know Bill. Initially, he was Carol's dad but as the years passed Bill and I became friends. I so enjoyed our talks and shared passion for track and field. Over the course of this Covid pandemic, many track and field competitions, including our beloved Penn Relays were put on hold. The relays are scheduled to return this April, I am saddened to now know that I will not be catching up with Bill there. Bill was a giant among Relay referees. I offer my belated condolences and hope that Anne, Carol, Gordon or other members of Thomson family will cross my path. God Bless You.

My favorite memories of Bill are when he, Anne and the Thomson “kids” would drive down to Rock Hall in their cool VW van to visit Sylvia, Chris and me. When they arrived, we all knew there would be fun times, laughter, and great meals together. Bill was a generous, loving son-in-law to Sylvia, and brother-in-law to Chris and me. I loved his big smile, jovial spirit and good stories. He liked to call we in-laws the “outlaws” and that always cracked me up. Thanks, Bill, you are loved and missed.
Dave Mathews left a message on November 11, 2021:
I did not know you in life but you raised a fine son and that, at the end of the day, is the greatest testament of a man that I can think of. Until we meet again!
Gail Rodney left a message on November 11, 2021:
One of my fondest memories of Bill was the time waterskiing at Rock Hall. I had never skied before, He made it seem natural, and I got a glimmer of his great talent as a coach. My sympathy to all.
