Walter Daniel Johnson Sr., lovingly known as “Danny,” passed away on April 3, 2026, just one day after celebrating his 72nd birthday. He was born on April 2, 1954, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Corbin Johnson Sr. and Modena (Lewis) Johnson.
Danny dedicated much of his life to working in construction, a career he took great pride in until his retirement. He had a deep love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and anything with an engine, especially rare cars and antiques. Whether he was out on the road, working with his hands, or adding to his collection, he found joy in the things he was passionate about. He also cherished the simple moments—fishing, spending time outdoors, and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. Danny was known for bringing people together, often hosting gatherings filled with laughter, stories, and good company. More than anything, Danny loved his family. Everything he did was for them, and his presence, guidance, and love will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Kiersten Staats and her husband Ian, Leah Johnson, and Danie Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Myla Staats, Alara Staats, and Elena Johnson; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Johnson; and his siblings, Shelia Cook and Corbin Johnson III, “Snowbie”, and Helen Hamm.
Danny was preceded in death by his son, Walter Johnson Jr.; his wife, Teresa Johnson; and his longtime girlfriend, Dee Nunn.
Services will be held privately.
