Virginia M. Pierce, age 80, of North East, MD passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 18, 1933 in Ervin, TN to the late Neal and Martha (Miller) Pate.
Virginia worked as a housekeeper at Perry Point VA Hospital. She loved to sing gospel music, listen to Conway Twitty and Charlie Pride. Another of her many joys were trips to Willow Valley in Lancaster, PA, where she would enjoy a meal, do some shopping and feed the ducks. She was also a great fan of NASCAR and her favorite driver was Jeff Gordon.
She is survived by her son, James Pierce and wife Norma of Oxford, PA; daughters, Patsy Webb of Dundalk, MD and husband Albert of Sydney, Nova Scotia; Meddy Jo Cooper and husband Jeffrey of North East, MD; 9 grandchildren, Cynthia Webb, Jennifer Pringle, Kristie Duvall, Matthew Webb, Neal Pierce, Rusty Pierce, Chipper Whitesell, Joshua Cooper, and Natasha Cooper; 17 great grandchildren, Heather Arnold, Beth Gayleard, Brooke Gayleard, Breanna Gayleard, Troy Gayleard Jr, Allena Conrad, David Pringle Jr, Carleen Pringle, Adam Duvall Jr, Emma Webb, Jacob Webb, James Jackson Pierce;Preston Whitesell Jr, Morgan Whitesell, Dillion Pierce, Dalton Pierce, and Alley Pierce, brother, Woodrow Pate of NC; and sister, Myrtle Tapp of Perryville, MD.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Pierce, brother, Buddy Pate and sisters, Hattie Blankenship and Betty Madron.
Services will be held 11AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Rev. Robert Madron will be presiding over the services and friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery in Rising Sun, MD. Services will be officiated by Rev. Robert Madron of Melsa, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home.
