Virginia L. Anderson, age 88, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013.
Virginia was born May 28, 1925 in Flat Ridge, VA to the late Monroe J. and Nancy Della (Hash) Perkins. Known for her incredible hospitality and excellent cooking skills, Virginia worked and volunteered as a cook for several places. Namely, from 1963 to 1970, she worked for the Bainbridge Naval Training Center and most recently for West Nottingham Presbyterian Day Care Center. She and her husband, Ray volunteered at Perry Point VA Medical Center where they were known to open their home and show hospitality to those who could not make it home for the holidays and volunteered with the Porter’s Grove church choir at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center. She was an active member of Porter’s Grove Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and helped to prepare food for events. Virginia enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafts, and shopping but most of all she cherished her time spent with her family and loved ones, especially her grandchildren. She was a caring and nurturing soul with a heart of gold who touched the lives of those she met whether it was by her kindness or her incredible cooking.
The family sends gratitude and special thanks out to the staff at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center for all of their wonderful help caring for Virginia.
Virginia is survived by her three sons, David L. Anderson and his wife, Gilda of Port Deposit, MD, Larry D. Anderson and his wife, Virginia of Conowingo, MD, and Rickey R.
