Virginia Alice (Houchin) Rickolt , 82, of Landenberg, PA, passed away peacefully the morning of Palm Sunday, March 29th, with her children holding her hands.

Born in Laurel Springs, NJ on October 21st, 1932, Ginny was the daughter of the late Alfred Houchin and Edith Layman Houchin. Virginia enjoyed sharing her love of art and music with church, friends and family (especially her grandchildren, Noah, Eden, and Milly). Ginny’s art degree was from the Philadelphia Museum School of Art which she followed many years later with a second degree from Salisbury State College in laboratory science. She was a resident of Severna Park Maryland for 18 years, where she worked for both the State of Maryland Environmental and the Health departments before retiring to Landenberg Pa to be with her late husband Lake Oman Rickolt Jr, daughter Annette, son in law Mark Epstein and their children Noah and Eden.

As she originally met her husband, Lake, in sailing school her favorite vacations involved visiting her son Lake Alfred Rickolt, her daughter in-law Gemma Louise Rickolt and their daughter Milly Rose in San Diego where all could enjoy sailing together.

Ginny is also survived by her brother David Houchin, his wife Donna Houchin and their sons David and Paul from Arnold Md. Virginia felt blessed to be part of an amazing church family at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Newark, De.

A service celebrating Ginny’s life will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 276 South College Ave, Newark, DE on Monday May 18th at 3:30pm. After the service all are welcome to view Ginny’s art work on display and visit with the family. Virginia, always interested in education, donated her body to the Maryland Board of Anatomy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Seamen’s Church Institute via their website seamenschurch.org
