Virginia Gail Ward, age 79, of Darlington, MD, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 6, 1944, in Bel Air, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Grover Triplett and Zella Mae Ellis.
Virginia’s life began with a remarkable tale, as family legend holds that she was born on the railroad tracks in Bel Air, MD. Devoted to her faith, Virginia was a steadfast member of the Baptist community, finding solace and strength in her church.
Known for her boundless love and kindness, Virginia touched the lives of all who knew her. Her greatest joy was found in the company of her cherished family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. Her nurturing presence and unwavering support will be deeply missed, leaving a void in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Franklin E. Ward; her daughter, Sherry Price, and son-in-law, Timothy; her sons, Terry Sparks and his wife, Anita, and Gary Sparks, Blake Ward and Karen Ward; ten adoring grandchildren: Stacey Sparks, Clinton Richardson, Tiffany Willis, Kyle Price, Dalton Sparks, Shelbie Sparks, Katie O’Brien, Hannah Nelson, Rachael Gilley, and Candice Testerman; as well as her great-grandson, Layne Richardson, and nine additional great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kevin Triplett, and sister, Juanita Rineholt
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy Ward, and two sisters, Joan Penhollow and Shirley Darney.
A visitation to honor Virginia’s memory will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at R. T. Foard Funeral Home – 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Gateway Baptist Church ,58 Foxy Court, Rising Sun, MD 21911 where family and friends may begin visiting at 11:00AM. Burial will take place at Harford Memorial Gardens.
