Virginia G. Scherer, 85, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2015 at Regal Heights in Hockessin.
Born in Bowling Green, KY on June 16, 1929, Virginia was the daughter of the late John Carson and Rowena Rowe Gary. She was a graduate of the University of Louisville, KY and taught elementary school in Cecil County, MD from 1964-1968 and in the Red Clay School district from 1968-1987. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her son, Mark L. Scherer and his wife Julie of Newark; her daughter Jeannine Scherer of Salisbury, MD; and 2 grandchildren, Caitlyn and Gayle Scherer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth L. Scherer and her brother William R. Gary.
A graveside service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Garden, May 2nd at 2:00P.M. . In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Deaf Independent Living Association, Inc. (DILA) Endowment Fund, c/o Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES), 1324 Belmont Avenue, Suite 401, Salisbury, MD 21804.
