Virginia Belle Barrows Fowler, age 94, of Elkton, MD, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 1, 2015. Bunny was born November 15, 1920 in Parma OH to the late Belle Thomas Barrows and late Clark Worthy Barrows. Her only sibling, Patricia Anne was born two years later, and the family moved to Michigan in 1925, where she graduated from high school and college and married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Horton Fowler. She worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Co. in Lansing MI and at E.I. DuPont in Louisville, KY., while her husband-to-be was in the medical corps during World War II. Bunny’s love of music was predominant her entire life: writing the school fight song; singing in choirs for 85 years; performing with numerous orchestras and a traveling gospel quartet called “Mixed Blessing”; writing gospel music and recording a CD after she moved to Maryland to live with her youngest daughter Pamela and her family in 2001.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Bruce, sister Patricia Sample Glenn, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She is survived by her daughters Judith Anne Beebee (Roger), of St. Johns, MI, Jan Elaine Watson, of Roscommon, MI, Patricia Lynn Fowler (Kathy) of Cincinnati, OH, and Pamela Jo Mayse (Gregory) of Elkton, MD; son Thomas Bruce Fowler (Millie) of Farrell, PA; 10 grandchildren, Annette, Michael, Jason, Kevin, Kimberly, Christina, Patricia, Matthew, Melissa and Justin; and 15 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Elkton United Methodist Church, 219 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921 with Pastor Karen Bunnell officiating and burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in East Lansing, MI with Pastor Cayle Beagle officiating.
