Viola May Holman (91) of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away on April 2, 2025. Born on February 2, 1934, in Newhall, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee Reedy and Ida Belle (née Dye) Reedy.
Viola dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working as a caregiver to the elderly, where her kindness and compassion left a lasting impact on those she helped. She was a gifted craftswoman, finding joy in sewing, crocheting, and an array of creative pursuits. Her hands were rarely still, always working on a new project or lovingly crafting something special for her family and friends.
A woman of deep faith, Viola cherished reading her Bible and was a devoted member of the Primitive Baptist Church. She found great comfort and strength in her faith, and her unwavering devotion was an inspiration to those around her.
Above all, Viola’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always celebrating the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with pride. She treasured every moment spent with them, offering endless love, wisdom, and encouragement. She will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, and the gentle yet strong presence that made everyone around her feel cherished.
In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Bryant Dixon, and second husband, Richard Holman. She shared many wonderful years with them. Siblings: Leona Rose, Nonabelle Leffew, Maxine Reedy, Ovella Sampson, and Eugene Reedy; son, Curtis Parsons; and grandsons: Dan Parsons and Jimmy Wild.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Ann Raymond and her husband Bruce, and Mae Luffman and her husband Jerry; her cherished grandchildren, Brandy Mowbray Hatfield, Lisa Raymond Headley, Bryan Raymond, Jim Collins, Tony Parsons, and Richie Parsons; and her adored great-grandchildren, Emilee Bartlett, Braeden Headley, Brett Bartlett, Savannah Collins, and River Parsons. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Arvil Reedy, and a large extended family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Viola’s life will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens (3839 Aldino Road, Aberdeen, Maryland) on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 1:00PM.
Viola’s kindness, faith, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
