




Victor Dayton Hankins, 87, of Chestertown, MD, formerly of Tazewell, VA, passed away April 8, 2014 at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown.
Born in Tazewell, VA on October 18, 1926, Dayton was the son of the late Carter and Ira Rebecca Sparks Hankins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed coin collecting and also recycled aluminum cans. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Surviving are his four daughters, Patricia Booth (Cliff) of Elkton, MD, Lena Ellis (Ronnie) of North East, MD, Rebecca Horne (Jerry) of Chestertown, MD and Lisa Berry (Ron) of Elkton, MD; two sons, Robert Hankins (Brenda) of Baptist Valley, VA and Roger Hankins (Connie) of Canebrake, WV; 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise and his brothers and sisters.
A service honoring his life will be held at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home of Tazewell, Inc., 630 West Main St., Tazewell, VA 24651 on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921 on Thursday April 10, 2014 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at Hurst-Scott in Tazewell, VA.
