Vernon Hastings Washburn, age 57, of Conowingo, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He was born on September 10, 1966 in Havre De Grace, MD to Joyce Emily (Riley) Johnson and the late Oakley Chaffin Washburn, Jr.
Vernon took great pride in being a Millwright. He worked in Local 219 in Philadelphia. He enjoyed shooting guns, singing, and working on cars. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and dogs. Vernon was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Oxford, PA where he was a Shriner. He will always be remembered as a giving person, who always was there to help others. Vernon will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Vernon was survived by his wife of 13 years, Sharon Washburn; mother, Joyce Johnson; sister, Tahnee Lynch and her husband, Kevin; two nephews: Cody Lynch and his wife, Abbie, and Devon Lynch; three chihuahuas: Harly Mae, Willie, and Tony.
In addition to his father, Vernon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Melvin and Freda Price.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Conowingo Baptist Church, 151 Rock Springs Road, Conowingo, MD 21918 where family and friends may begin visiting at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held private.

I meet vern many years ago wen I was still a teenager.i worked at osani's. He was always such a pleasant,kind,careing person,would do any thing for any one.wen I found out he was the person who got two of my puppies,I was so happy knowing they would have a awesome forever home.vern could put a smile on your face just by walking in the door.heaven definitely just got a lot funnier .he will definitely be missed by many. Rest in peace my friend. Fly high

Vern was my friend, confidant, Union Brother and for a while business partner. We worked together off and on for 30 years. We were friends through good, bad and some scary times but always friends from day one. He was always ready to jump in and help whether you need to fix something on your car or to help you through a tough time in your life. I remember the first time I heard him sing. Vern was bless with a remarkable voice and loved to share it. He was also blessed with an exceptional mechanical ability. I remember walking in the shop one day to find him with the entire dashboard on the floor of the car with wire going everywhere and disconnected. Within a day or so it was all back together and everything worked. I was truly impressed.
We hadn’t seen much of each other lately but always stayed in touch after I retired. I will miss those calls. I will miss him a lot. May his kind sole rest in peace. My family and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all Vern’s family and friends as there hearts heal for such a great loss.
