Vera graduated from Brown Mackie Business School. She married William T. Strickland on November 23, 1946 and they moved to Newark, DE in 1949 and then later in 1952 to New Castle, DE. She worked various accounting and finance positions with multiple manufacturing and banking firms during her career until her retirement at age 80. Vera loved sitting in her sunroom.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband, William T. Strickland Sr. Vera is survived by her son, William T. Strickland Jr. and his wife, Holly; son, Charles B. Strickland; daughter, Brenda Ciconte and her husband, Thomas; 4 grandsons: Wm. Brett, Billy, Wesley, Phillip; 2 granddaughters: Jessica, Lindsay; 2 step-granddaughters: Deanna, Lisa; 5 great grandsons: Will, Aedan, Jayden, Caleb, Andrew; 4 great granddaughters: Amber, Autumn, Jordan, Andrea; and great-great-grandson, Cruz.

A celebration of Vera’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on June 16, 2020 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may start visiting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately after at Newark Cemetery. .

My deepest sympathy to my nephews and niece on the passing of their mother and my sister in law Vera. Many fond memories over 71yrs especially her made from scratch lemon meringue pie! Love to you and yours aunt Emily!

I was so saddened to hear about the passing of Mrs. Vera. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers. Mrs. Vera you will truly be missed. The street will never be the same.

My deepest condolences to my cousins Bill, Chick and Brenda on the passing of their mother Vera. I have many fond memories of Xmas's, Sunday dinners(chicken and dumplings)and reunions of years passed of all of us.
