Thomas G. Churchill, Jr., age 90, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on July 20, 2018. Born on March 9, 1928 in Amarillo, TX, he was the son of the late Thomas G. and Edna (Edmondson) Churchill.

Thomas worked as a Chemist/Patent Professional for many years. He was employed at Chemical Abstracts Service from 1956-1962, Atlas Chemical Industries, now AstraZeneca, Inc. from 1963-1981, and W.L. Gore and Associates from 1982-1993. Thomas was also a member of the American Chemical Society for over 60 years. In his free time, Thomas enjoyed golfing and was a travel enthusiast; he and his wife travelled to all 50 states, 5 continents enjoying the mountains, the rivers and the plains in many countries.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jane R. Churchill; nieces: Elizabeth G. Churchill, Anne Sanders, and Elaine Oldiges; and nephews: Terrence Dirkes and James Dirkes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, John Paul Churchill; sister, Edna Mae Poston; nephew, Daniel Poston; and nephews Nicholas Dirkes; Stephen Dirkes and niece, Mary Elizabeth Dirkes.

A celebration of Thomas’ life will be held at 5pm on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may visit beginning at 4pm. Burial will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5101 W 7th Street, Texarkana, TX 75501. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Wounded Warriors Foundation” or a charity of your choice and sent in care of the funeral home.
