Thomas Edward Hudson, 65, a beloved member of the Elkton, MD community, passed away on March 12, 2024. Born on May 7, 1958, he was the son of the late Charles Q. and Agnes (nee, Dobes) Hudson, and his legacy of kindness and dedication lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Tom’s journey began at Elkton High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and skillful craftsmanship. A self-taught welder, machinist, and industrial mechanic, Tom honed his talents over the years, becoming a respected figure in the Cecil County area. For 13 years, he lent his expertise to Colonial Metals, Inc., leaving an indelible mark as a valued employee and trusted colleague.
In his free time, Tom found solace and joy in his personal passions. An avid fisherman, he found peace by the water’s edge, where the tranquility of nature embraced him. Tom’s love for classic rock was palpable, and his skillful fingers danced along the strings of his bass guitar, bringing melodies to life that echoed through the hearts of those who listened. Yet, amidst his hobbies and talents, Tom’s greatest devotion was to his German Shepherds: Nija, Jack and Sammy, whose presence illuminated his life with love and laughter.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Charles J. Hudson, his daughter-in-law, Jamie L. Hudson, and his nephew, Mark C. McAllister. He also mourned the loss of his lifelong love, June Jones, whose memory remained a beacon of light in his heart.
Tom is survived by his son, Mark T. Hudson; grandchildren: Nellie L. Hudson, Mark T. Hudson, Jr.; sister, Barbara McAllister and husband Mike; niece, Kim Barrow and husband Dave, nephew, Michael A. McAllister and faithful dog, Sammy.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with the family welcoming friends starting at 10:00 AM at R. T. Foard Funeral Home – 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, MD. Following the service, Tom will be laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery. To leave online condolences, go to www.rtfoard.com
