Thomas E. Fones, Jr., 75, of Conowingo, MD, passed away on August 2, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 24, 1940 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas E. Fones, Sr. and Josephine E. (Kovak) Fones.
Tom worked for 30 years at Esskay Meats, then at Martin Gillett for seven years, and finally Washington Food for six years. He loved camping, Native American culture, and watching old cowboy movies. Tom was a member of Gateway Baptist Church and loved his church family.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Martha (Saunders) Fones; son, Thomas Fones, III; daughter, Melanie Pendergast; step-children, Lisa Crites, Glenn Horner, and Michael, Brian and Chris Koenig; and numerous grandchildren.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 12pm on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Gateway Baptist Church, 58 Foxy Ct, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where friends and family may visit beginning at 11am. Burial will follow the service at Jarrettsville Cemetery.
