Thomas D. Riley of Rising Sun, MD passed at Upper Chesapeake hospital on September 2nd, 2024 at 65 years old with his family by his side.
Thom was born in Romney, WV where he attended Romney High school for a short time before moving to Edgewood, Maryland and attending Edgewood High school where he met his wife, Connie.
Thom was strong-willed and stubborn at times but had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever, talented, and filled to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experience-He could build or fix anything. He was an artist and woodworker and loved music, fishing, birdwatching, gardening, and took great pride in landscaping and keeping his yard in pristine condition. He was an extremely hard worker who took pride in his job and worked most of his adult life for Harford County Department of Public Works.
Thom and Connie married in August of 1982 and had their first child in 1985, Jennifer Riley. In 1993, they welcomed their second child, Jacob Riley. Jennifer had two children, Alivia Green, and Channon Green. Jacob had one child, Rowan White-Riley. Thom was a fun, loving, and devoted father and grandfather who used every opportunity to teach his children and grandchildren everything he knew and went out of his way to make them laugh constantly. He was and will always be their hero. His lessons, love, strength, and kindness will live on forever through them.
Thom had a short but harsh battle with cancer. He never complained and remained stoic, and brave throughout. When his time came, he fought hard until the very end, in true Thom Riley fashion.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 42 years Connie Riley; his father Ralph E. Riley, and his step-mother Marilyn Riley; three sisters, Sheree Riley, Kathy Edwards, and April Michael; two brothers, Craig Miser, and Denny Miser; his two children, Jennifer Riley, and Jacob Riley; his three grandchildren Channon Green, Alivia Green, and Rowan White-Riley; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
In his typical and humble fashion, Thom requested no service of pomp and circumstance, but a celebration of life will occur with details to be determined.
