Theresa M. (Hart) Stoops passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 at Calvert Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 30, 1936 to the late Daniel J. Hart and Gertrude V. (Dooley) Hart Connelly.
Her family moved to Delaware, where she attended Newark High School. It was during that time that she met her husband of 69-years, Clifton K. Stoops, Sr. They made their home in Elkton, MD, where they raised their six children.
She loved to sew, crochet, play cards, and travel. Her favorite places were the Jersey Shore, Bethany Beach and the Outer Banks. Her family meant the world to her. Theresa loved being with her family and always enjoyed hosting holidays, picnics, and card games. We all know how much mother loved sitting down at the kitchen table with family and friends with a glass of her famous iced tea.
Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Clifton K. Stoops, Sr.; children: Diana L. Delp (Barry Barker), Deborah L. Stoops (Charles Birney), Clifton K. Stoops, Jr. (Shirl), Tina M. Gifford (Donald), Wendy A. McDaniel (Mick), and Michelle D. Graybeal (John); eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters: Bonnie Castelli, Trudy Sizemore, BJ Cleaver (Parke), and Alice Connelly; and brothers: John Connelly, Jr., Tom Connelly (Joyce), and Ed Connelly (Susan).
She is preceded by her sister, Joan Hart; grandson, Clifton K. Stoops, III; son in law, Howard F. Delp, Jr.; and stepfather, John W. Connelly, Sr.
Theresa’s husband and children will celebrate her life privately. In her honor, love unconditionally, be of help to those in need, live in peace and be thankful for all that we are given and always have God in our hearts. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jose Ma and his staff for their many years of care, Michelle and Rae Ann from Amedisys Hospice and extended family at Calvert Manor who gave loving care and support. She loved you all.
