Thelma V. Lockwood (nee Holdsworth) passed away peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 98 at Christiana Hospital with her family at her side. Thelma was born in Staffordshire, England to the late Leonard & Emily (nee Sutton) Holdsworth and predeceased by brothers Sydney, Ken & Douglas Holdsworth. Thelma is survived by her daughters Pamela Heebner, Anne Hatton, Meg Winterbottom (m. Bill Sr.), Jill Lucas (m. John), grandchildren Bill Winterbottom, Jr. (m. Erica) Meghan Schubert (m. Leo), Sara Meringer (m. Eric), Alisha Rose Lucas and 5 great grandchildren with little Emily on the way and multiple relatives in Great Britain.
Thelma was a WW II British soldier and war bride who met and fell in love with an American soldier, Oliver, the love of her life. They were each other’s sunshine for 65 years of a loving marriage.
Thelma worked as a bookkeeper and in retail after many years as a stay at home mom. Thelma loved her family-time, playing games, reading, crafts, volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader, yearly family trips to Ocean City, NJ, Senior Center trips and gardening.
The family of Thelma would like to say a special thank you and hug to a dear friend, Maya.
At Thelma’s request no formal funeral services will be held.
