Teresa Mae Morgan Owens, age 63, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD, after a long struggle with cancer.
An active volunteer at the Elkton Senior Center, Teresa loved making connections with people and putting smiles on their faces, and always strived to leave the world a better place than she found it. She loved teaching people new things, particularly arts and crafts, or card and dice games — anything that encouraged people to spend time together talking. Teresa was fascinated by genealogy, and spent many hours tracking down the distant branches of the Wilmouth-Moody family tree. She loved camping and spontaneous road trips, and usually kept a “go bag” in her trunk in case she felt like getting in the car and driving just to see where she ended up, often sweeping (unsuspecting) friends and family along for the ride.
Teresa was born May 12, 1954, in Middle River, MD to the late James Thomas Moody and Pearl Belle Wilmouth. She graduated from Eastern Vocational Technical High School in 1972, and spent a lifetime continuing her education as new things caught her interest. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Wesley Morgan of Chattanooga, TN, and two sisters, Billie Jo Ledford and Terris Anne Moody. Teresa is survived by her daughter, Ruaira Brighid Morgan; sisters Tommie Nock, Betty Jean Steelman, and Dorothy Smallwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held privately and at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the American Cancer Society or to a Humane Society of your choice and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921.
