Tana earned her Bachelors of Science degree from East Stroudsburg State College, where she graduated in 1977. Upon graduation, she worked for the State of Maryland as a parole and probation agent, and later was promoted to supervisor from which she retired in 2009. Tana was an avid walker and loved the beach. She was also an avid reader, and loved music, cooking and baking. Above all, she was very devoted to her family and her church.

In addition to her mother, Tana is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Lewis M. Erbe; two daughters: Lindsay Erbe of Columbia, MD, and Adrienne Phillips and her husband Chad of Rising Sun, MD; son, Lewis B. Erbe and his wife, Courtney, of Rising Sun, MD; six grandchildren: Lucy Stever, Carson, Braylon, and Colee Phillips, and Hattie and Ashby Erbe; and sister, Jane Reagan and her husband, Robert, of Telford, PA.

A celebration of Tana’s life will be held at 11AM on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Janes United Methodist Church, 213 N. Walnut St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, with a visitation held from 6-8PM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Janes United Methodist Church, as well as one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow the service at Brookview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made payable to “Janes United Methodist Church” or “Alzheimer’s Association” and sent care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

Tana was one of my earliest friends. She was a wonderful person and I will remember her always with love in my heart. Her legacy continues with her husband Lew, her children and grand children. Rest in peace my very dear friend.

Dear Lew & family, I just read of Tana's passing and I'm shocked. Please know how much I appreciated her routing me (& others) on during the various Marine Corps Marathons from 1989 - 1996. Her positive attitude was also present when we shared a case while I worked at the Health Dept. from 1985 - 2007. She was a beautiful soul.

Lou, I am so sorry for your loss. Tana was my supervisor when I worked for Parole and Probation. She was such a wonderful lady and an inspiring boss. She worked very hard and stayed positive in the face of very difficult situations. She was a real blessing to those of us who worked for her.

Louie, sorry to hear of Tana's passing, this has been a rough few months for your family. I had the privilege of talking to your mother at Easter Service, what a wonderful person, she told me of your situation. We extolled the good times of our youth, I offered a prayer then as now. The pain of earthly residence has passed for them and now both are enjoying eternal peace. We keep both always with us in our memory

So sorry to hear of Tana's passing. I only saw her once or twice since high school, but she still had that beautiful smile and her faith in God was strong. May you all feel the loving arms of Jesus encircling you and giving you His peace.

When she directed the children's choir at church, their little faces reflected the broad smile she always seemed to have. Lew, your commitment to love has been an inspiration and lesson to us all.

Mr. Erbe, Though I didn't have the opportunity to know your wife, I knew you as I was in your 11th grade US History Class. My husband and I will be praying for God's strength, peace that surpasses all understanding, and comfort during this difficult time for you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I was in Tana's class grades 7 thru 12 and have nothing but great memories. She a cheerleader, I a majorette, enjoyed many band camps and rides to and from football games. Love and prayers to all.

I was saddened to hear the news of Tana's passing. My mother has asked me to let you know she is keeping all of you in her prayers. Years have past, but it only seems like yesterday when we were young running the streets of Tamaqua. Oh, I am saddened to hear this news. My heartfelt sympathy to your family. I don't remember ever not knowing Tana. We went to the same church in Tamaqua (Presbyterian) and attended Sunday School together, sang in the junior and senior choirs, were in many of the same classes in jr high and high school. I don't remember Tana ever saying anything negative about anybody or anything. And her Smile ! She could light up a room. Heaven has a bright new star.
