Sylva Mary Kestler of Rising Sun, MD, age 76, went to join the Lord Monday, August 13, 2018. She was born on May 11, 1942 in Williamsport, MD to the late Raymond Gordon, Sr. and Katherine W. (Lisle) Gordon.
Sylva was a proud alumni of Towson University where she earned her degree in education. She taught mathematics to various ages ranging from elementary school up through high school. Sylva also taught Sunday school. She liked to travel and lived in various places. Sylva made friends easily due to her warm and friendly nature. She loved animals and had various pets, both dogs and cats throughout her life, but her most beloved pet was her pug, Rosie. Sylva was a strong Christian and taught her love of the lord to her children. Her most treasured time was spent with her family.
Sylva is survived by her three children: Christopher Kestler and his companion, Sherry Baldwin of Dundalk, MD, Michael Kestler and his wife, Darlene of Harpers Ferry, WV and Trudy Bennett and her husband, Terry of North East, MD; seven grandchildren: Krystal Marcela Leipold and her husband, Matt of Childs, MD, Austin Wayne Bennett of North East, MD, Nick Kestler, Justin Kestler, Shelby Kestler, Madison Kestler and Brooke Kestler; two sisters: Diana Turner and her husband, Cliff and Beth Ann Cerbaugh and her husband, Michael; brother, Raymond Gordon, Sr., several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as her beloved pug, Rosie.
In addition to her parents, Sylva was preceded in death by her two sisters: Janice and Sharon; sister-in-law Dottie Gordon; and her husband Richard James Kestler.
Services for Sylva will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
