Steve and I worked together at Du Pont, Ft. Madison, Iowa. He was a friend and colleague. He was a gentle soul who always was friendly and helpful. I was Personnel Supervisor at the Plant and he helped me greatly. Like Steve, we, too, once lived in Newark (Church Road). Today, MarySandra and I will say the Rosary and other prayers for our brother, and all who love him. Because of the Sacrifice of the Savior, Jesus Christ, we will see Steve again. All our love and prayers, Steve & MarySandra Foster, Friendswood, Texas

Dear Theresa, Kim and I send our condolences to you and your family. Steve was literally the first person to stop by and welcome us to the neighborhood. You have both been so kind to us over the years and the little chats in front of your porch added to the warm welcome. We wish you many happy memories as you go forward and all the best. Maribeth and Kim Hoelmer

So sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. Way too soon…. I worked with him at Fort Madison. Truly a down-home one-of-a-kind kind IT guy. I sat in a couple meetings where visiting Wilmington techies did not quite know what to make of him and his style. Thoughts and prayers for your loss.

I was young hire with DuPont when I met and worked with Steve. He was truly a wonderful man and human being. ALWAYS gracious, humble, supportive and kind even to a young cocky college kid. That was over 30 years ago......I'm 100% sure he never changed. My sincere condolences to the Purvis family. The world lost a wonderful human being. RIP Steve.

Teresa, I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I worked with Steve, and you, at DuPont in Wilmington. Steve was always sharing plant and systems knowledge to get the job completed. The first time I used a computer mouse was in Steve's office, he wasn't there. I was trying to move the mouse on the screen unsuccessfully. I had the mouse on the wall trying to get to the icon needed. Steve came in, asked what I was doing, told him, he picked up the mouse and accessed the needed icon. We laughed for several days. He was special. A great coworker.

Steve was one of the kindest neighbors I ever met.. it was always a delight to see him sitting on his porch because you knew he was going to take the time to talk to you to see how your life was going and if there was anything you needed. My kids and I will always fondly remember him as the "Mayor of West Branch" because he always demonstrated care and concern for all who lived in the neighborhood. We are thinking of you, Teresa.
