Stella Veronica Roman Zionkowski Yashinski, 97, of North East, MD, passed away February 28, 2014 in Union Hospital in Elkton, MD.

She was born in Nanticoke, PA on March 9, 1916, the daughter of the late Tillie Godek Roman and Stanley Roman. Stella worked in a silk mill in Plymouth, PA and was a beautician in Sheatown and Nanticoke, PA. The family is most grateful to the entire staff at Heron’s Creek Assisted Living for the wonderful care Stella received during her 18 months with them.

She is survived by two sons Narcy (Rita) Zionkowski, Gerald Zionkowski and a daughter Charlene (Raymond) Barno; stepchildren Edward Yashinski and Barbara Yashinski; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She also leave behind four sisters, Emily Waiter, Theresa Kerbaugh, Ann Zigmund and Charlotte Turowski. She was predeceased by husbands Narcy Zionkowski and Edward Yashinski; brothers John Roman and Adam Roman; sisters Francis Granitski and Lee Belles; grandsons David Zionkowski, Tyler ZIonkowski and Joshua Zionkowski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Faustina Parish, 520 S Hanover St., Nanticoke, PA 18634 on Saturday March 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 7 – 9:00 p..m. on Friday March 7, 2014, at Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home, 614 S Hanover St, Nanticoke, PA 18634. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township, PA.
