Shirley Janet Dunlap, age 84, of Elkton, MD passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. She was born on April 15, 1937 in Elkton, MD to the late Chester Alvis Russell, Sr. and Alice Emily Russell (Hamilton).

Shirley was a home maker and helped administratively for her husband with the Dunlap Trucking Co. The Dunlap residence in Thomson Estates was the place to be and somewhere to hangout, and where she raised 6 children. Shirley was a swimmer, ice skater and bowler. She was a phenomenal cook and could make anything by “taste.” Shirley and the family enjoyed annual vacations to Ocean City, MD. Family was everything for “Mom-Mom” and “Mom-Mom Nana.”

Shirley is survived by 6 children: Bobby Dunlap, Jr., Barry Dunlap (Ruth), Donna Gregg (Glenn), Beth Dunlap, Barbara Smith (Steve), and Dana Litzenberg (Albert); 6 grandchildren: John Dunlap II, Stephen Smith II, Robbie Dunlap III, Mike Dunlap, Zach Smith, and Lindsay Hodge; 15 great grandchildren; and her loving pet, Sammy. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Dunlap; grandson, Kyle Ryan Gregg; and 7 siblings.

A celebration of Shirley Janet Dunlap will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Family and friends may begin to visit on Monday starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Gilpin Manor Memorial Park.
