Shelley Stewart, 61, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, after a 21 year battle with cancer. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on June 4, 1965, she was the cherished daughter of the late Richard M. Krier and Anne M. Krier (Breen) and the loving wife of Tim Stewart for 31 years.

Shelley grew up in Hockessin, Delaware, and was a proud graduate of Alexis I. du Pont High School, Class of 1983. She continued her education at Goldey-Beacom College, earning her bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Shelley had a natural gift for caring for others, particularly children. For 20 years, she operated an in-home daycare, creating a warm and nurturing environment where she touched the lives of countless children and their families. She later worked as an optician, where she continued her commitment to helping and serving others.

Shelley’s compassion extended to animals as well. She had a deep love for dogs and generously volunteered for many years with House of Hope Animal Rescue.

Those who knew Shelley will remember her as genuine, honest, and straightforward. She was never one to hide how she felt; you always knew where you stood with Shelley. Beneath that candid nature was a caring heart and a deep love for her family and the people whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, Tim, Shelley is survived by her daughters, Sarah Stewart and Emily Stewart; her beloved granddaughter, Chelsea, who was truly the apple of Gram’s eye; her brothers, Mark Krier and John Krier; and many family members and dear friends.

A Celebration of Shelley’s Life will be held on September 14, 2026 at Faith Baptist Church, 2494 Singerly Road, Elkton, MD. 21921 The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 AM and the service starting at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Sharps Cemetery, 226 Lewisville Road, Fair Hill, MD 21921.

Shelley’s memory will live on in the hearts of the many people she cared for throughout her life. Donations in Shelley memory can be made to Faith Baptist Church.
