Sarah Marilda Welch, 65, of Elkton, MD, passed away at home September 13, 2014.

Born in Tazewell, VA on May 22, 1949, Sarah was the daughter of the late Silas and Idana Sparks. She worked in the home healthcare field and was a member of Elkton Presbyterian Church. She took pride in helping people and loved her grandson.

She is survived by her son, Leslie D. Welch and his wife Jennifer of Smyrna, DE; her grandson Remington Earl Welch of Smyrna; and two brothers, Douglas and Roger Sparks, both of St. Petersburg, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Earl Welch, who died in 2008.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Elkton Presbyterian Church c/o R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911.

There are no words to express how sad we are here in Florida. Sarah, this is Sandy. I will never forget the time we spent with you and how we were going thru so much pain in our lives and you would just sit, listen and pray in your heart for us that God would help us get thru and He has. You loved me and Darrell and I will keep my memories of you in my heart until the day I see you again in Heaven. Sandy and Darrell Sparks (Roger's wife and son). My husband will sign later. He still is in shock but is comforted to know you knew Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.

To Les, Jen and Remy, my thoughts and prayers go out to you at this terribly sad time and there is really nothing I can say to make you feel better. I would love to take the pain away, but only time will help with that. Les, I only met your Mother once, but I could sense she was a loving and giving soul and was very proud of you and you were blessed to have her in your life. You, Jen, and Remy will be in my prayers forever and ever.

Sarah you will be forever in my heart. It was a gift to know you. Thank you for your loving kindness that you freely gave to all. You will surely be missed. Praying for your son and family during this season of their life. You were a beautiful person and it was an honor to know you. Until we meet again.....God's Love and mine.
