Sarah Josephine Hoopes

January 17, 1961 - September 23, 2024

Sarah was a compassionate woman who found great fulfillment out of helping others; she will always be remembered as a natural caretaker. Her family meant the world to her, and she especially loved the time that she spent travelling with Don, her best friend and husband. At home, she relished gardening and tending to her own garden beds. Sarah also found joy in having quiet moments while coloring. She was a life member of the North East VFW and would be found every Sunday at Vertical Fire Church, where she will be dearly missed.

Sarah has left behind her beloved husband of 30 years: Don Hoopes; her sister: Hope Dieffenbach (Tom); her brother-in-law, David Hoopes (Julie); her niece, Corrie Lussier (Jeffrey); her bonus family: James and Brandy Douglas; and her cherished dog: Jewel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Stew Demond.

Services will be held privately at the family’s convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local church of your choice. Please send all donations in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. at P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

I am so shocked and saddened by this news. Sarah brought light to so many people. We worked side-by-side for many years and shared joys and challenges. She was a beautiful person who made a difference in the world. Sending prayers and healing to Don, Hope and the family.

My deepest condolences to the family. I worked with Sarah for a few years in Primary Care. We commiserated in the work complaints but also shared some fun inside joking on a daily basis. The inside jokes between Sarah and myself made work almost tolerable. She was a genuinely sweet person. I was very sad to hear the news of her passing. Rest Easy, Sarah

Sarah was always ready with a smile and a wonderful greeting. Though I haven’t seen her for a long while I would often think about her. The world is a little dimmer without her in it, but heaven is that much brighter.

My deepest sympathy to her husband and entire family. She was one of the most kindest people I've ever met and she will be truly missed. I'm so happy I was able to see her not long before her passing. May she rest in peace.
