Sara Ann Wilson, age 86, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, on September 7, 1937, she was the cherished daughter of the late Wayne and Marleah (Noll) Snyder.
Sara’s career began at the young age of 14 when she started working as an operator, affectionately known as a “Plug-in-Girl,” at Bell Telephone Company. She continued her professional journey with dedication and enthusiasm, culminating in a 20-year tenure at Delaware Technical Community College (Del Tech) as a Student Intake Administrator. In this role, she passionately assisted young students, helping them navigate the enrollment process. Sara retired at the remarkable age of 80, a testament to her unwavering work ethic and commitment to education.
Despite her professional achievements, Sara remained true to her small-town roots and was always young at heart. She found joy in simple pleasures such as coloring, solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles, knitting, and crocheting. An avid reader, she immersed herself in Romance and Adventure novels. Her family remembers her as a kind and gentle lady who never had a harsh word for anyone, embodying compassion and grace in all aspects of her life.
Sara is survived by her loving family: son, William Wilson; daughters Natalie Perrone and Anita Lohinecz; and grandchildren Alexkender Wilson, Tatiana Wilson, and Anastazia Wilson. Her family and friends will deeply miss her warm presence and the love she shared.
A graveside service to honor Sara’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 2:30PM at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720.
