Sandra “Sandy” K. Keen, age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026. She was born on February 14, 1944, in Gorman, MD to the late Vernon Brooks Rohrbaugh and Kathryn Virginia (Trenton) Rohrbaugh.
Sandy dedicated her life to her family as a stay-at-home mother, finding her greatest joy in raising her two children, Melissa and Skip. She poured her heart into creating a warm, welcoming home where love was always abundant and every meal was made with care. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in watching her children grow.
A gifted home cook, Sandy loved spending time in the kitchen preparing meals for those she loved. When she wasn’t cooking, she could often be found reading cookbooks, always searching for new recipes and inspiration. She also had a passion for collecting treasures, delighting in adding teapots, baskets, and countless other unique collectibles to her home. Each piece reflected her appreciation for beauty, tradition, and the simple joys of life.
Music brought Sandy endless happiness. She was a devoted Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed listening to the timeless voices of Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and many other classic country artists whose songs became the soundtrack of her life. Sandy also embraced adventure and was fortunate to travel extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Her travels gave her a deep appreciation for different cultures and created memories she treasured for the rest of her life.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Melissa Haughay; sister-in-law, Jeannine Rohrbaugh; furry friend, Tyler Guiness; and birds, Aloysius and Beatrix. In addition to her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her husband, William Keen; son, Allen “Skip” Haughay, Jr.; and former spouse, Allan Haughay, Sr.
