Samuel J. Savini , Jr., 76, of Bear, DE passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, at Union Hospital. Born on June 11, 1938 in Chester, PA, Samuel was the son of the late Samuel, Sr. and Helen Savini.
Sam was an Auto Mechanic and business owner with interests in several successful businesses including a speed shop, an auto repair/gas station and an environmental industrial services corporation. He loved drag racing, was an avid gun collector, and enjoyed trap shooting. He was always described as a man who “knew how to have fun.” Samuel loved his family and his dog, Romeo. He enjoyed spending his summers with them at the Jersey Shore.
Samuel is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dianna Savini of Bear, DE; daughter, Geri Green & husband David of West Grove, PA; daughter, Helen Vadala & husband Earl of Morton, PA; daughter, Jackie Hess of Wilmington, DE; son, Tony Savini & wife Yukiko of Cochranville, PA; daughter, Rita Savini and son, Joe Savini of Bear, DE. Additionally Sam is survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Along with his parents Samuel was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Kettell.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. A service honoring Samuel’s life will be held at 11am on Friday, July 18, 2014 at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921where friends and family may visit beginning at 10am. A burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing the Samuel J. Savini memorial scholarship fund: Building Opportunities (for) Resourceful Kids aka B.O.R.K., which will benefit students pursuing an education in the automotive field.
