Sally Ann Haywood, age 79 of Colora, MD went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 1, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 4, 1946 in Elizabethton, TN to the late Mallie Kie Putnam and Euna J. (Aldridge) Putnam.
Sally was a woman of deep faith, a loving heart, and a life filled with purpose, kindness, and devotion to those she loved. Above all else, she was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of her life. She lived her faith through her love for her family, her service to others, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met.
She was a devoted and loyal wife, a loving and committed mother, and a cherished friend. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, laughing, or simply enjoying one another’s company, those moments meant the world to her.
Sally found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing cards with friends, enjoying a good game of Bingo, sewing, crafting, and especially making quilts. Each quilt reflected her creativity, patience, and love, much like the warmth and comfort she brought to the lives of those around her. She also loved gardening and working in her yard, taking great pride in her flowers and finding happiness in watching them bloom.
Music was another special part of her life. She had a beautiful singing voice and dearly loved singing southern gospel and traditional gospel music. Sally was a wonderful singer who found joy in praising the Lord through song. She also loved playing the piano, sharing her musical gifts with others, and using her talents to glorify God.
Her faith and love for people were evident in her many years of service at Gateway Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for 27 years. She was also dedicated to teaching Sunday school, sharing her love of Jesus and helping others grow in their faith. Her church family held a special place in her heart.
Throughout her working years, Sally touched many lives through her dedication and compassion. She owned and operated an in-home daycare for 17 years, providing care, love, and guidance to countless children. She also served as a substitute teacher for special needs students, demonstrating her patience and caring nature. She worked as an accountant for RMR corp., where her commitment and dependability were valued. In addition, Sally enjoyed maintaining friendships with fellow retired real estate agents, meeting with them once a month to catch up, share stories, and stay connected.
She was a woman who wore many hats throughout her life: wife, mother, friend, caregiver, teacher, musician, gardener, seamstress, and faithful servant of God. No matter what role she filled, she gave it her heart and her best.
Sally will be remembered for her loyalty, her commitment, her beautiful voice, her love of family, her flowers, her creativity, and, most importantly, her unwavering faith. Her laughter, her kindness, her songs, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Though her family and friends will miss her dearly, they can find comfort in knowing that her faith has become sight and that she is now resting in the loving arms of her Savior.
Her life was a beautiful testimony of love, faith, and devotion. Her song may have ended here on earth, but the melody of her life will live on forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Sally is survived by her sons: Dale Haywood, Jr. and his wife, Heather, Mallie K. Haywood and his wife, Betty Jo, and Anthony Russell Haywood and his wife, Carrie; grandchildren: Rachel, Steven (Anna), Josh Angelini (Nate), and Lyla Bo; great grandchildren: Alexis, Brock, Levi, and Brynn; and siblings: George Putnam (Nancy) and Charlotte Williams (John).
She is preceded by her husband, Dale Haywood, Sr. and siblings: Wayne Putnam, Frank Putnam, Martha Benzing, Edna Freeman, Tessie Buchanan, and Sherman Putnam.
