Ryan Allen Cooling
Ryan Allen Cooling, age 45, of Elkton, MD died suddenly on August 16, 2019. He was born on August 3, 1974 in Havre De Grace, MD to Harold Cheyney Cooling and Terry Lee (McDaniel) Cooling Dunn.
Ryan attended the Tome School for twelve years, he then graduated from Elkton High School class of 1992. Ryan attended Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach. Ryan played lacrosse for two years during his college career, and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree and a double major in Journalism and Communications. After graduating college, Ryan joined an adult lacrosse league and was currently still playing. Ryan started the Green Turtle lacrosse team in Newark, DE. He then transitioned into coaching the girls’ lacrosse team for Cecil County Parks and Recreation, and the North East High School girls’ lacrosse, in which his daughter Abbey played. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter Sophie’s soccer team, side-line coaching and verbally expressing his encouragement.
Ryan began his career in broadcasting and producing with The Score All Sports Radio and having his own sports talk radio show. He then went on to work for Penske Truck Leasing, holding various sales and management positions in the Mid-Atlantic states.
Ryan answered his call to duty by giving his daughter Madison his kidney in 2004. Ryan volunteered at the Ronald McDonald house at A.I. DuPont Hospital, and was an avid volunteer and support person in their efforts. He enjoyed spending time with his family in Fenwick Island and playing cornhole. Ryan was a lifelong Eagles football fan. When Ryan entered the room, he had a way about him that made everyone feel special. Ryan’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.
Ryan is survived by his daughters; Madison E. Cooling, Abbey L. Scheffler, Sophie J. Scheffler, Elkton MD, father, Harold “Hal” C. Cooling, Hixson, TN, mother, Terry L. McDaniel Cooling Dunn (Woody Satterfield) of Earleville, MD brother, Craig Cooling of Hixson, TN his life partner; Cindy M. Moyle- Scheffler of Elkton, MD; maternal grandmother, Doris J. McDaniel; uncle, Allen McDaniel both of Punta Gorda FL; nephew, Landen Ryan Cooling, Drew Blodgett; nieces, Aislyn Marie Cooling, Anistyn Claire Cooling, Maddie Blodgett, sister-in-law; Jenn Blodgett and his beloved Goldendoodle, Bella.
Ryan was predeceased by maternal grandfather; Marlin D. McDaniel, paternal grandmother; Martha Cheyney Cooling, paternal grandfather; Robert Burris Cooling, uncle; Jeffery Burris Cooling.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM at R.T Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St. Elkton, MD 21921 friends and family are welcomed to join. A life celebration will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11 AM, at the VFW Post 6027, 815 Turkey Point Rd, North East MD. A burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
