Ruth Reynolds Gamble, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2012. She was a lifelong resident of Cecil County. She born in Rising Sun, MD on September 10, 1923, and was the daughter of Anna and Curtis Reynolds of Rising Sun, MD.
Mrs. Gamble graduated from Rising Sun High School in June 1940 and attended Goldey College in Wilmington, DE. She married Floyd L. Gamble on March 31, 1945. Floyd passed away on April 28, 1982.
She began working for Hercules Powder Co. in Wilmington, DE on December 21 1942 and later went to work at Aberdeen Proving Ground from which she retired on March 31, 1993 after 50 years of service as an Administrative Officer for the APG Comptroller.
Ruth was an avid golfer and played in the Ladies Group at Chantilly Golf Club. She loved to play bridge and belonged to the Tuesday Bridge Club and Wednesday nights at the American Legion in Rising Sun. She was member of the 6, 7 and 8th Auxiliary of Union Hospital and a volunteer at the hospital gift shop. Ruth was a lifelong member of Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun, MD.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred R. Gifford. She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Frances Gamble Preston and Helen Gamble; niece, Nancy G. Williams and her husband Frank and their children, Frank IV and wife Ellen, their children, Grace and Jill, Scott Williams, Donna W. Burton and husband Joshua and son, Braxton; niece, Melissa G. Buckland and husband, Bryan and their children, Victoria, Jessica and Christopher; nephew, Kirk C. Gifford; and grandnephew, George Gamble and wife, Janice and their children, Madison and Johanna.
She loved her loyal and faithful friends Dottie Clark, Donna Vaughn and Jean Parrish.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Calvert Manor Healthcare Center for their loving care and kindness for Aunt Ruth.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in Janes United Methodist Church in Rising Sun, MD, where family and friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Brookview Cemetery, Rising Sun, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Janes United Methodist Church or Seasons Hospice, c/o R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S.
