Ruth Irene Kennedy Burton, 88, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on June 24, 2023.  She was born on February 21, 1935, in Hickory Hill, PA to the late Ruffin Levi and Martha Elizabeth Kennedy.  Ruth was married to Leonard Burton, who preceded her in death.

Ruth was a kind-hearted individual who enjoyed shopping and playing bingo.  She worked at Calvert Nursing Home in Calvert, MD, for over 25 years.  Her dedication to her work and her compassionate nature made her a cherished family member and beloved member of the community.

Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Doris Barker of Oxford, PA, and Fay Meadows Craig of Sidney, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Ruffin Kennedy, her mother, Martha Elizabeth Kennedy, her husband, Leonard Burton, her brothers, Walter Kennedy, Earl Lee Kennedy and Donald Kennedy, her twin sister, Ruby Roop, and her sister, Norma Eller.

Visitation will be private.  A Graveside service will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at 2pm at The Hopewell Cemetery, 1811 Hopewell Road, Port Deposit, MD 21904.
