Ruth M. Gandy passed away peacefully January 8, 2015 at Christiana Hospital with family and friends by her side.
Ruthie was born October 7th 1961 in Hollywood Florida to Frank and Ruth Hurst of Newark DE. Ruthie Attended Middletown HS class of 1979 and worked for BE&K as an engineering scheduler/planner. Ruthie loved country line dancing and always enjoyed teaching others.
She also enjoyed riding Harley’s and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved to spend time with her grandson Connor who was the light of her life. She enjoyed living life and her smile could light up a room.
She also loved and enjoyed riding her horse Ed and loved her dog Wheezy.
She was preceded in death by her former husband Robert Smith; brother Tommy; sister Virginia; uncles Hersch, Earl and Dave; and grandparents Paul and Linda Brown and John and Evie Hurst. She leaves to cherish her memories her parents Frank and Ruth Hurst; daughter Tiffany Smith and fiancée Alan Billingsley Jr.; grandson Connor Sullivan; brother David Eager; sisters Evelyn Owens and Husband Greg Owens, and Nancy Gant and husband Eddie Gant; nephews Jeremy & Christopher Baeder, Jeffrey Sweetman and Thomas Smith; nieces Crystal Beader, Amber Shire, Susan Smith and Angelica Sweetman; great nephews Nathan, Anthany and Vincent Baeder, and James Blake; great nieces- Alivia Mealey, Alanna Sanders, Mariah Baeder, Amara Blake, Leg’na and Aubrey Sweetman; as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins and all of her many friends who she cherished very much.
A service honoring her life will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Thursday January 15, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Following the service, all are invited to join the family to celebrate Ruthie at Executive Banquet & Conference Center, 205 Executive Drive, Newark, DE 19702. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that any memorial contributions be made to her only grandson Connor M. Sullivan and mailed to the funeral home. This would be used for Connor’s future education expenses and all sport activities.
