Ruth A. Stafford (Plotts), age 95, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. She was born on August 27, 1927, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Joseph and Rae (King) Plotts.

Ruth was a 1945 graduate from Newark High School and later received her bachelor’s degree in 1949 from West Chester State College. She was member of the Head of Christiana Church, Newark Historical Society, and the National Education Association. Ruth and her husband, Robert, were adventurous as they enjoyed traveling around the country together. In her spare time, she loved doing crossword puzzles outside in the fresh air and watching the Philadelphia Phillies. Ruth will be remembered as one who always took care of her family and loved them unconditionally.

Ruth is survived by her children: Larry Stafford, Fred (Eleanor) Stafford, and Cindy Hatfield; grandchildren: Ashley (Trevor) Franklin, Melissa Stafford, Erin Hatfield, Caroline Hatfield (Ricky Earl), and Caitlin (Mark) Saporito; great-grandson: Henry T. Saporito; and sister: Dorothy Plotts.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert E. Stafford; brother, Joseph Plotts; sisters: Marion and Helen Plotts; son-in-law, Gary Hatfield; and grandson, Joshua Hatfield.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., where friends and family may begin to visit at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Head of Christiana Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Head of Christiana Church” and sent in care of R.T.
