In loving memory of Russell James McMullen, Jr (Puggy), a resident of Colora, Maryland, who passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on August 1, 1948, in Havre De Grace, Maryland. Russell was the cherished son of the late Russell James McMullen, Sr. and Rosemary McMullen (nee, Kieffer). He was the beloved husband of Valerie Carol McMullen (nee, Savage), their bond enduring for 57 years.
Russell was a graduate of Perryville High School, Class of 1966, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication and hard work. His professional journey led him to serve as a Railroad Engineer for Conrail, where his commitment to excellence shone brightly. Later, he brought his expertise to the Hess Corporation as a Maintenance Supervisor until his well-earned retirement.
A true lover of the great outdoors, Russell found solace and joy in nature. Whether it was hunting in the crisp autumn air, casting his line into the tranquil waters, navigating rugged terrain on his trusty 4-Wheeler, or simply basking in the serenity of the open water, he embraced every moment with a zest for life. An avid NASCAR and Washington Redskins Football Fan, he cheered on his favorite teams with unwavering loyalty.
Yet, above all, Russell’s greatest joy came from the moments spent with his beloved family. As the family storyteller, he wove tales of adventure and laughter that will echo through generations. His devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Russell is preceded in death by his loving parents, his brother James McMullen (Jimbo), his daughter-in-law Terri McMullen and his nephew Scott Blackburn.
He is survived by his devoted wife Valerie; his son Russell McMullen III; his daughters Vicky Lynn Hadry (Brad) and Tammy Jean Kendall (Ricky); his grandchildren Holly McMullen, Russell McMullen IV (Ashley), Kenneth Hadry (Leah), Tyler Hadry (Mercedes), Cody Kendall, and Kyle Kendall; his great-granddaughter Arielle Hadry; his brother Jack McMullen; his sister Kathleen McMullen; his nephew Phillip Blackburn and his niece Jacklyn McCord (Ryan); and great-nephew Cole McCord.
A celebration of Russell’s remarkable life will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. His final resting place will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, where his spirit will forever roam the open fields he so dearly loved.
