Rosemary Gargon of Delaware County, PA, recently of Chesapeake City, MD, age 94 passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 24, 1928 to the late William F. Dougherty and Anna E. (Harley) Dougherty.
Rosemary grew up in Philadelphia, PA having attended St. Cements Elementary and West Catholic High School. She worked for Acme Markets for over 40 years until her retirement. Rosemary enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles in the newspaper, listening to Tony Bennett and watching old movies (especially Shirley Temple movies). She loved to line dance with her friends at the Watkins House, eating hotdogs and racing to get ice cream from the Mr. Softie truck with her granddaughter. Rosemary was passionate about traveling, and especially enjoyed her trip to Africa where she spent a month on safari.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Nancy Collington and her husband, Michael; and granddaughter, Sharon Greene and her husband William. In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her four siblings: William F. Dougherty, Jr., James Dougherty, Thomas Dougherty and Marie R. Rieve.
A memorial gathering in Rosemary’s honor will be held 10:30 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 318 George St., Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Burial will be held privately.
