Rose Marie (Martin) Shertzer of The Villages FL, age 92, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025. Rose was born on November 23, 1932 in N. Manchester, IN to the late Don Martin and Nellie Lucile (Banbury) Martin.
Rose graduated from Newark H.S. class of 1950 and earned a BSN from the University of Delaware and an MSW from the University of MD. She played piano and enjoyed opera, cards, jigsaw puzzles, and daily walks.
Rose is survived by her children: Ted Shertzer (Cindy), Eva McCauley (John), Kurt Shertzer (Kelly); grandchildren: Erin McCauley, Morgan Verigood (Josh), Kathryn Porter, Hayden Shertzer, Emory Porter, John Porter; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her brothers, Don “Mick” Martin and Tom B. Martin.
The family would like to thank Mission Oaks Assisted Living and Cornerstone Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Rose in her final days.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be held at a later date.
