

Rose M. Sage, age 89, of Newark, DE passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Rose was born on October 8, 1923 to the late John and Theresa Martin in Chesapeake City, MD.
Known as the “Champion Typist of Cecil County “while attending high school, Rose put those skills to good use and held various secretarial positions at the University of Delaware, including security, plant operations, and student health. She also worked as a waitress at such places as the Newark Country Club and the Glasgow Arms.
In her spare time, Rose was an avid bowler. She loved to crochet and knit, and enjoyed gathering with her friends for a Saturday night game of poker. Rose was also an original member of Holy Family Church.
She is survived by her son, William Sage and wife Debra of Newark, DE; daughters, Rose M. Brogdon and husband Robert of TN, Patricia Kelley and husband Ronald of Bear, DE, Joyce Storm and husband John of Newark, DE and Kathleen Creed and husband Michael of Newark, DE; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Davis of Bear, DE; 17 grand children, 22 great grand children, and 3 great great grandchildren. Rose will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Sage Sr. and son, James Sage Jr.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713 where friends and family may call one hour prior beginning at 10 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Newark, DE.
