Rose E. (Baldwin) Williams, 99, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her two sons on Sunday, August the 9th, 2026. She is now face to face with Jesus Christ, in a place of no more sorrow, no more pain, no more tears, for the former things have all passed away as a result of her decision to believe in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
She was born on March 11th, 1927 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to the late Jefferson W. Baldwin and Margaurite C. (Wallbillick) Baldwin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Marshall Williams, Jr., and nine brothers and sisters: Florence Little, Genevieve Mattice, Jefferson Baldwin, Betty Mae Flowers, Elsie Dill, William Baldwin, Fred Baldwin, Joseph Baldwin, John Baldwin. She is survived by her sons David A. Williams (Rising Sun, MD) and Michael L. Williams (Harrington, DE), granddaughter Kristian Williams, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was a life-long homemaker who was an excellent housekeeper, cook, seamstress, gardener. Several times she was complimented on the tidyness and cleanliness of her home. Cooking from scratch most days, she went all out during holidays providing a feast fit for a king. In the early years she made many of her own outfits. Her thumb was naturally green. Any plant she brought into the home thrived. Zinnias and geraniums were among her favorite flowers. She loved observing which type of bird would be visiting the yard outside her kitchen window. She always got excited at any sudden appearance of deer, eagles, or similar unexpected creature in the adjoining fields. Big Band music was her favorite, especially Glenn Miller.
She became more independent after her husband died, learning how to drive at the age of 55. She loved to sightsee with her son David and enjoyed the company of the ladies of Newark Baptist Church in their various excursions, going as far from home as Niagara Falls, NY.
A private, grave-side service will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Rising Sun, Maryland.
