Rose Buckingham Clancy, 73, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly at Christiana Hospital on January 20, 2013.
Born in Deepwater, NJ on January 2, 1940, Rose was the daughter of the late Lewis and Rose Perea Buckingham. She was a graduate of Newark High School and worked for many years in the trucking industry. She enjoyed music and dancing, especially with her husband. They were friends with several of the local bands. After her husband passed, she enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Elkton VFW. Rose was full of life and energy. She was a devoted pet owner and was involved in the rescue of several dogs. She was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed by all.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Maria Gladstone and her husband James, and Annette Ott and her husband Steven, both of Wilmington; daughter in law Phyllis Clancy of Bear; stepdaughter Tina Clancy of Middletown, DE; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother Lewis Buckingham and his wife Nancy, brother in law, Richard Clancy and sisters in law Dorothy Clancy, Nina Garcia and Phyllis Richardson, numerous nieces and nephews as well as her beloved dog Mano. She was preceded in death by her husband James Clancy and her stepson James Clancy.
Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE on Monday January 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. A service honoring her life will be held at Richardson Park United Methodist Church, 11 N. Maryland Ave. in Wilmington on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family may call at the church beginning at noon. All are welcome at both services.
