Ronald William Shaffer, age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, PA, passed away on June 7, 2018. He was born on May 8, 1941, in Perth Amboy, NJ, to the late Melvin C. Shaffer, Sr. and Eleanor Waite.
Ronald, better known as “Pinky,” was employed as an auto body repairman for many years and took great pride in his occupation. He was best known for his wonderful sense of humor and the great love he had for his five daughters. Ronald enjoyed golf in his spare time and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and deep sea fishing.
Ronald is survived by his former wife, Mary Shaffer, Bear, DE; his daughters, Pam Jackson (Kevin), Philadelphia, PA, Terri Smith (Eddie), New Castle, DE, Mary Beth Scalise (Sam), Parkersburg, WV, Ronda Janney (Barry), Elkton, MD, and Rose Shaffer (Cherie), Hockessin, DE; brother, Melvin “Buddy” Shaffer, Newark, DE, sisters, Ruth Lange, Mesa, AZ, Pat Landis, Wilmington, DE, and Sharon DiStefano (Dave), Bear, DE; grandchildren, Matthew, Becca, Brandon, Laura, Zachary, Andrea, Jacob, Benjamin, Natalie, Vincent, Gabrielle, BJ, Holly and Adam; eight great-grandchildren; and his beloved schnauzer, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Babe.
A celebration of Ronald’s life will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 12:00 PM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may begin visiting at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Ronda Janney” to help pay for the funeral expenses.
