Ronald “Ronnie” G. Hemrick, Sr., 67, of Bear, DE, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Born on September 26, 1949 in Hendersonville, NC, he was the son of Carl and Helen (Suttles) Steppe.
Ronnie was a Veteran of the US Army where he served in Vietnam. He then went on to work for Henkels & McCoy, Inc. in Rising Sun, MD, retiring in 1991 after 20 plus years of service. Throughout his life, Ronnie invested in real estate – buying, selling, and renting out properties. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to Stone Harbor, NJ and Ocean City, MD. Ronnie loved playing computer games and learning about military history, but his greatest joys in life came from time spent with his family, including his beloved dog, Tucker.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie is survived by his wife, Carol Tegge Hemrick; two daughters: Tracy A. Bannon (Stephen) and Sherry Lynn Cantrell (Ron); son, Gary Hemrick; former daughter-in-law, Susan Ward; three brothers: Russell Steppe, Michael Steppe (Dawn), and David Steppe (Debbie); three sisters: Patsy McWilliams (Jim), Loretta Jugler (Norman), and Virginia Johnson (C. Tom); two step-sons: Jonathan Shinkle (Kim) and Brian Shinkle (Janine); step-daughter, Bonnie Clark (Joe); special uncle, James Suttles; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Ronnie is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Bambi Stup.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, with a visitation beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow the service at West Nottingham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Mason Dixon Post 194 Honor Guard” and sent in care of the funeral home.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Mickleton Friends Meeting in Mickleton, NJ.
