Ronald Keith Horkey, 62, of Elkton, MD, passed away unexpectedly at his home February 14, 2015.
Born in Waynesburg, PA on September 1, 1952, Ronald was the son of the late Albert and Edna Langenheim Horkey. A veteran of the U.S Army, Ronald served from 1969-1972 as a guard in Okinawa. He was employed by Dow Chemical for over 15 years. Ronald enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He was also a trap shooter and his 1952 Army Jeep was a joy in his life. As a welder, he enjoyed fabricating all types of things.
He is survived by three daughters, Lisa Ann Horkey of Elkton, Kelly Marie Wynne of Middletown, DE, and Tami Lynn Horkey of Essex, MD; 4 grandchildren, Lance Cpl. Christopher Wynne, Jr., Kyrin Davis, Cani Jeffress and Kylee Shifflett; a brother Kenneth (Zeke) Horkey and his wife Marlene of Crossfork, PA; his sister Karen Pulanco of Hughesville, MD; and his sister-in-law Janet Horkey of Whitman, MA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Edward and Duane Horkey.
A service honoring his life will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921 on Thursday February 19, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 6:00. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday February 20, 2015 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation and mailed to the funeral home.
