Ronald E. Walker, age 80, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at home with his family. Born on February 11, 1941, he was a proud native Delawarean all his life. Ron attended Newark Senior High School and graduated in 1959. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was proud of all the careers he possessed throughout his working life.
Ron was a process engineer at Getty and then started Casa Kitchens in 1976. Following that, he worked at Prudential Bache Securities in 1982 and was licensed to sell stocks, bonds, and commodities- Ron was the go-to for all his friends and family for financial advice. One of his greatest accomplishments included his time spent working at New Castle County Chamber of Commerce starting in 1989. He retired from there as President in 2006 and received the University of Delaware Organization Award. With retirement, he continued to enjoy the finer moments in life and was an avid traveler all over the globe.
Ron was a family man and found great joy in being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for hosting the best annual Walker Christmas parties and having that sparkle in his eye when he was telling a story to a captive audience. He loved to spend time at the Delaware beaches during the summer months and created endless memories with his grandchildren. All who had the pleasure to know him are forever grateful for the endless laughter and stories and for the vivid memories that carry on his legacy.
Ron is preceded in death by his first love and wife, Anita; and his parents, Ed and Florence. He is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 32 years, Gretchen, his brother, Ed and his wife, Janie; his twin daughters, Brenda and Linda; his son, Ronnie; his four grandchildren, Joan, Allison, Matthew, and Rachael; six great grandchildren, Kayla, Charlie, Lucas, Naevia, Madeline, and Dani; his faithful wiener dog companion, Max; and his nieces and nephews and close friends.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 1PM at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc. 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may attend the viewing beginning at 12PM. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
